WHEN TO BOOK YOUR NEWBORN SESSION | Little Hearts Photography San Antonio TX
So you're expecting a little one... and reading ALL THE THINGS to prepare for their arrival. Admit it. This is probably the 15th baby blog post you've read this week. We love that! Preparation is the ultimate key to making sure everything goes smoothly.
One of the questions that we get most often is...
"When is the best time to book your newborn session?"
The best answer for this is... the sooner, the better! Ideally, you want to have your baby photographed sometime between birth and 10 days old (14 days at the most). There is something truly magical about the first two weeks of a new baby's life. They are so tiny, sleepy and they love to be folded up into the most adorable little positions. Once this magical window passes, you'll notice that your baby is much more alert, awake and has learned that they can stretch out and make use of all their newly acquired space. All of these things make it increasingly difficult (and sometimes impossible) for your photographer to get those special newborn poses that you are yearning for.
So what's the best way to prep for this window of time?
1. Book a portrait consultation with our studio before your baby arrives. At this appointment we'll go over pricing and what to expect and how to prep for your session.
2. Purchase your baby session. This locks in our time for you when your little one arrives and give your newborn session scheduling priority. The other beauty of booking early is, you have plenty of time to request studio gift certificates as a baby shower gift! Your friends and family can get online to purchase gift certificates in your name for any amount. By the time your baby arrives, your photos could be completely paid for and all you'd have to do is select your favorite images.
2. Give us a call when your baby arrives so that we can set up a time on our schedule to get you in as quickly as possible after your discharge from the hospital. We know it's difficult to get out of the house during those first few days, but we'll make it as easy and stress free as possible for you.
Marketing & Design
Okay, your cool blog is done. Now all that’s left is to publish and get readers. Think of blogging as part of your marketing strategy – because it really is.
Blogs help people find you through search engines. But you can also share your blogs on social media platforms to get people ooh-ing and ahh-ing over your work on your website. The goal is to show them around the place, dazzle them with your work, and hopefully they’ll end up booking their own sessions – or signing up for updates! Sharing is easy. Just click “Share” and post to the social media of your choice. Done and done.
Our last notes are about design. Both for your overall blog layout and for each post.
People are visual creatures... but you know that already. A beautiful blog will encourage people to stay & read more! Your blog comes with a bunch of layout options so you can create a gorgeous experience for your readers.
If you write a longer article, try to break up the words with images peppered throughout. Photos make for a more enjoyable read!
If you have extra widgets, you can easily embed them in the footer or sidebar of your blog. Putting in a subscription form, for instance, is a great idea to keep people hooked on reading your blog!
That’s about it! You now know everything you need to make a great blog for your business! Good luck, champ. I know you’ve got this. But if you ever have any questions, drop us a line, and we’ll be glad to help!
